Commemorations marking the 26th anniversary of Burma's 1988 pro-democracy uprising were held in front of City Hall in Yangon on August 8, 2014. The event was organised by activist group 88 Generation Peace and Open Society. Dozens of Political activists gathered to recall the historic events of what is now commonly known as the "8888 uprising". The 88 Generation Student Group; Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi and others also held a donation event to support political prisoners and their kids' education need.
